Explanations to help you complete the Registration Forms Return to top of page

    1. General: All forms must be completed and returned for entry. This includes the Registration Form (with competitors, photo and medical release, the Participants Sports Exam, which must be filed only once per year unless an injury or other medical emergency occurs, and the appropriate Adult or Minor Release of Liability.

2.) Registration Form: Each item on the form is required for a purpose and must be completed. Please follow the below steps to avoid confusion.

  • A. Check Either Male or Female.
  • B. Check the appropriate age group. Please note there have been some changes this year. Basically all competitors must compete in their age group except 35 and over has the option to compete adult or senior. The only other exceptions are 16 or 17 year olds who desire to enter WKF Kata Division which is an advanced division. This division is age 16 and over to comply with WKF eligibility. .
  • C. Next check the division you were at if you attended a state or league championship. If you trained less then one year at time of that event, check beginner, 1-2 years check novice or green belt, 2-3 years or brown belt check intermediate, and 3 or more years or black belt check advanced. Note this also now applies to the Senior Divisions. If you did not attend a state championship, use the date of the nationals as a guide or call the USAKF national office.
  • D. For division, please complete as follows:
  • 1. WKF Kata is only for those who are 16 and over. If you compete here you are considered an advanced competitor for all divisions. (All competitors who enter are also adult advanced for kumite except 16 and 17 year olds who must compete advanced in their respective age group.)
  • 2. Okinawan Kata for Adult Advanced Only
  • 3. Check Free Kata is for all other kata divisions.
  • 4. Check Kilo Kumite for all divisions which have a weight split - These are adult divisions only.
  • 5. Check Open Weight for all other age groups.
  • 6. Check Open Weight also for adult advanced competitors who have both kilo and open divisions for competition.
  • 7. Check Weapons if you are competing in Weapons Kata.
  • Remember, you must compete in the same age and skill for all divisions entered! Exception, senior competitors may compete in adult kata and in senior kumite.

    3) Age: Legal age for competition is the age of the competitor on July 1, 1998.

    4) Experience: As of the date of the national championships.

    4) Group Member: This is the organization you belong to that is a member of the USA Karate Federation.

Should you have any questions on completing the forms, contact your local representative who should be able to help you. Illegible or incomplete forms will not be accepted and will be returned unprocessed! Please help us help you by completing all forms in a legible manner. Thank you!
