This report from From Grandmaster Tom Lapuppet,
Members of the karate community were treated to an outstanding event in the mountains of PA. The weather was fair and the competition was held in the tennis area
This event was hosted by NY, PA, NJ, DE, and Conn. Each state recruited members from all organizations to take part. While there were some athletes unable to attend (due to other commitments) I am sure that -they won't miss next -years event.
The Karate group was happy to entertain Mr. GEORGE ANDERSON, our National Chairman. Mr. Anderson, as you all are aware by now, got karate into the Pan-Am Games. This was one of the goals the USAKF set out to do- contrary to some statements floating around.
Other noted personalities were present in the form of Mr. Al SANTUCCI, senior member of the karate community, and his champion karateka wife, the lovely ANITA Santucci, the living proof on the benefits of staying with a good program. Thank you ! Al and Anita.
Also what would the event have been like without the help of Sensei PAT BYRNES and his group from the PA area.To Mrs. STANKUS ,Thank You ! To the workers from the various areas and schools. We all had a great time!
Everybody went shopping at The Crossing, a great outlet for almost everything. There was a movie and a mall with bowling just down the road. Golf, bow and arrows, tennis, game room, indoor -out door pools, and, to top it all, all you could eat.
We hope to see everyone again next year and THIS WAS a GREAT event! (Shouting)
