General Notes on the meetings

A. Federation mission

1. Moved from the position of an elite athlete organization to that of a Karate Organization so as to better structure tournament and educational activities.

2. Redesigned the regional representation to include legitimate organizations, regional activists, international members, thus simplifying, streamlining and make enrollment in competition much less complex. Instituted a International Police Liaison Committee to conduct regular officer and instructor defensive tactics training and certification seminars.

3. Redesigned the sanction procedures to permit A, B, C sanctions to include larger style oriented groups.

4. Instituted a tournament point system.

5. Trimmed and streamlined the tournament structure in these ways:

a) There will be two tournaments each year, a Summer and Winter Nationals.

b) A dojo or style patch will be permitted, no more that 4 inches at the widest measurement.

c) There will be an division for Okinawan kata.

d) Instituted an easy entry for those qualified under the USANKF or the AAU karate programs.

e) Refereeing changes

(1) Under teenage kata will be run with 3 judges.

(2) Except for the international divisions, the Mirror System of referees will be used.

f) Scheduling

(1) Thursday - preparatory meetings. International Police Liaison Committee Officer and Instructor Defensive Tactics Training and Certification Seminar.

(2) Friday - Short referee course, two technical seminars in afternoon, Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet in evening.

(3) Saturday and Sunday - competitions

6. All the tournament information will be posted on the web. Posters, point standing, and schedules will be posted by US Mail as well as email. Results and pictures will be given star status on web.

Additional notes: The constitution was amended to reflect the current status of the Federation - the current officers of the Federation were elected for another term. Application to the NGB for affiliation was approved.
